BOOX MAX 2 Bootloop

hi there

I’ve got a problem with my Boox Max 2. I bought it near nine mouns ago but it wasn’t a new device and it isn’t under warranty. It initially worked well but i decided to update the firmware to latest version (available on: https://www.boox.com/downloads/#max-series ).

Due to device couldn’t detect the lastest update firmware, i followed all the instruction given on website above (instructions for Update locally) but device never booted again. Nowdays, it only shows the logo and start button’s LED blinks forever.

I tried some things through Onyx System Recovery as reboot system now, Apply update from SD card (but it couldn’t find the file), Wipe data/factory reset but nothing work. Also i tried to Apply update from ADB with the “adb sideload update.upx” command using update package available on link above but it aborted the installation after Verify the update package.

I think the only posible solution is reprogram the device using the rockchip factory tool (avaliable here: androidmtk.com/download-rockchip-factory-tool) but i couldn’t find the firmware image for BOOX MAX 2 device which should have .img extension.

I would really appreciate if someone could provide me the firmware image for BOOX MAX 2 device.

Hi, I just uploaded v2.1.1 for Max2 for someone on Mobile Read forum (https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=324105) . You can find it here : http://dl.free.fr/s3zPzN1zH
Rename the file update.upx and put it at the root folder on your device, then start local update.
After that you can try v2.2.0 that is available on Onyx site

Thank you DenisR for your answer,

Unfortunately, I can’t access to anything because device doesn’t start then I can’t put anything on internal storage. Despite that, I think it would be something similar to try to update the firmware by Apply update from ADB as I mentioned above. I tried to make that process with this update file provided by you but I got this error again:

E: footer is wrong
E: signature verification failed
Installation aborted

I think the only solution is reprogram the device but I need the firmware image.

May be your device is of “russian” origin. They have a “onyx” site but their Onyx devices are customised and need their updates… There has been several posts here or on MobileRead forum about that.

I have tried with all update package I have found and always I have got the same result (E: footer is wrong, E: signature verification failed, Installation aborted). Device doesn’t work and it is a software problem, I think the only feasible solution is reflash the firmware image.
