I can confirm that the official website link does not work if other language (e.g. English) is selected, nor does directly upgrading from cloud work, albeit the announcement (https://medium.com/@OnyxBoox/boox-firmware-2-1-changelog-5b85c520affd). Could you please make sure the firmware is rolled out? Thank you.
Edit: Actually, the link https://www.boox.com/downloads/ works, but http://www.onyx-international.com/ does not work.

The firmware update link in https://www.boox.com/downloads/ is not correct. Its embedded url is just “https://www.boox.com/downloads/”, so when you click it, you just get a page refresh, there is no way to download the update.
Please correct this.
@Cheng You are right. https://www.boox.com/downloads/ no longer works, but I am pretty sure it worked. The update v2.1.1 is really amazing. If you do not want to wait until Boox fixes this problem, you can access the update file I saved in my Google Drive (https://drive.google.com/open?id=1HHNnoHI11DqFXA7cZ3TjA77XiEpcm3dD) when the link worked. Please note that it is ONLY for Max 2, NOT for MAX 2 pro.

Dear user, we recently updated the firmware to version 2.1.1, which may cause bugs during use. This update has been temporarily suspended and we are currently developing a fix for these issues. but since claire announced that version was somewhat “bugged” I was hoping for the final “stable” version to come out soon!

BTW… I couldn’t resist and downloaded the package from knightgu link above (thanks), tried it briefly (looks great!) and had no issues so far.
I don’t understand the necessity of WI-FI connection turned on to use the “handwriting recognition” function. Will it be the same on the new official update? I was very interested to try it but I have no WI-FI connection availble currently and so I couldn’t 
Anyway, t’s going to be an amazing feature, keep it on!
Probably the recognition engine is not integrated and needs the network to download the information.
Thank you jack - so it is a “one time only” download, and internet connection is not necessary on subsequent uses?
If so, I could take advantage of some friend WI-FI connection and then unlock this feature for home use.

I can try tomorrow, but I think it need internet connection whenever it has to do recognition.

Perhaps you had to put a warning of this on the download page.
Surely you should have allowed the download of the old version 2.01 of the firmware (Max, Nova, etc.).
I, for example, am with the max2 and the bugged version 2.1.1 of the fw. and I don’t know how to downgrade to 2.01. How do I downgrade to version 2.01 or, better, to 1.9.x?
I look forward to the release of version 2.1.2, hoping that it is quite free bugs …
With version 2 you have changed too many things together without doing many tests; I would have inserted the new functions, gradually, keeping and slightly improving the old interface (v. 1.8.x, v. 1.9.x) which was much more flexible than the current one.

Hi, thank you for your support to us all the time. You are suggested to download the AI recognition package first with the Wifi connection first time and then you could use the “handwriting recognition” without Wifi connection.
