I recently had difficulties in setting Max2 as a portrait HDMI monitor:
either issuing an xrandr command ( ... --mode 2104x1560 --rotate left ) or using the “guided user interface” of the desktop Operating System, the screen freezes and as press [Back] and re-open the Monitor application, the screen is still in landscape mode.
For some functions, portrait mode needs to work.
Did I miss anything?
