I’m not a big fan of the Pico TTS engine which comes loaded on the Boox devices. Instead, I would reccomend downloading the Google TTS app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.tts&hl=en

You can then download the language packs that you desire.

After that, open up Settings, and select Language. From there, under Voice, select Text-to-speech Output. You can then choose whether to use the Google TTS engine or the Pico TTS engine as your preferred option and you can adjust the settings for the TTS engine.

Actually, I’m now not entirely sure that the method which I retated above will work for the Neoreader app.

It works fine for Japanese with the Moon+ Reader app. However, I can’t seem to get the TTS in Neoreader to read Japanese.

But then again Neoreader doesn’t seem to handle Japanese epubs very well. Perhaps it might work better with another language…
