Onyx Boox Note 2 - WIFI breaks after restart

Hi everyone!

This weekend I bought a Boox Note 2 device which was delivered to me today. I have some issues with the WIFI. Upon first starting WIFI was working and was able to connect and use the internet. After restarting the device as I did a firmware update the WIFI stopped working. I can see WIFI APs but I am not able to connect to any WIFI.

If I factory reset the device, WIFI works on the device as normal. When I then restart or power off the device it stops working. If I put in standby mode and turn it on, it works fine.

After a power off or restart I always need to factory reset it, which is not good or normal. I made sure I updated all the firmware updates (I had 2 to do) but issue still persists.

What I did was to connect the device using ADB and checked the logs and found that there is an issue with the WIFI configuration or some bug in the software most likely, but couldn’t find anyone on the internet with this issue on other Boox devices. The errors in question are the following…

11-13 03:37:32.593 563 2018 I WifiService: addOrUpdateNetwork uid=1000
11-13 03:37:32.593 563 2018 I addOrUpdateNetwork: uid = 1000 SSID “P20 Pro Daniel” nid=-1
11-13 03:37:32.593 563 1055 E WifiConfigManager: Cannot add/update network before store is read!
11-13 03:37:32.594 563 2018 I WifiService: enableNetwork uid=1000 disableOthers=true
11-13 03:37:32.594 563 1055 D WifiStateMachine: connectToUserSelectNetwork netId -1, uid 1000, forceReconnect = false
11-13 03:37:32.594 563 1055 E WifiStateMachine: connectToUserSelectNetwork Invalid network Id=-1

Can anyone please help with this? Looks rather strange. Googling those errors it seems some bad Android file but can’t fix it myself without root.

Thanks a bunch!

After submitting this for feedback, the devs provided a firmware update and fixed it for me as it seems it was a bug. Good stuff I say.
